Sec. Roque Challenge Sen. Drilon to Explain Why the Aquino Admin Bought P3K Worth of PPE

Presidential Spokersperson Secretary Harry Roque challenged Senator Franklin Drilon to explain the reasons why the previous Aquino administration bought some controversial PPEs worth around P3,000.00 which is way higher compared to the P1,700 PPEs under the Duterte administration.

The statement of Spokesperson Roque was published to the media amid the Senate hearing on the alleged "overpriced" PPEs purchased by the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) last year.

During a press briefing the veteran lawyer and Presidential spokesman presented a purchase orders for PPEs by the Department of Health (DOH) under the administration of former Pres. Noynoy Aquino worth at least P3,000 each.

Based on the evidence presented by Roque, the purchase order dated September 28, 2015, showed the purchase of 2,500 PPEs worth P3,500 each, and another purchase order for P3,750 PPEs worth P3,864 each dated June 23, 2016, seven days before the Aquino administration stepped down from office.

The spokesman even reminded Sen. Franklin Drilon to make sure that the opposition has no faults before throwing dirt to the Duterte administration.

Sec. Roque also added that the opposition senator and veteran lawmaker, Sen. Drilon should explain why his allies in the previous administration made such purchases.

"Senator Drilon, please explain. Bakit ang mga kakampi mo doble and halaga na binili para sa mga PPE sa panahon na wala pa pong pandemya?" Roque asked.

Spokesman Roque suspects that there is somebody who is making a lot of money from the PPEs purchase during the Aquino administration.

"Meron po talagang kumita, hindi po sa administrasyon na ito." Roque added.

The spokesperson also made some assumptions that the attack on the Duterte administration is purely political in nature.

"Kung hindi po pulitika ang dahilan, bakit sila gagawa ng ingay sa P1,700 (ns halaga ng PPE) kung ikukumpara sa P3,500. Huwag po tayong magpadala sa mga pulitikong maagang namumulitika.

The opposition is indeed desperate according to the latest revelations of Spokesman Harry Roque due to the latest controversy brought about by some senators regarding the PPE procurement.
