Pres. Trump Calls Pres. Duterte to Discuss COVID-19 Cooperation

The President of the most powerful country in the world, President Donald Trump of the United States of America (USA) called Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to discuss bilateral cooperation on the COVID-19 response according to the statement released and confirmed by Sen. Bong Go.



Senator Bong Go who was once the President's long-time aide before becoming a lawmaker, still enjoys wide access to the President and considered as one of the most trusted ally of the former Mayor of Davao City.

Although the details of the conversation between Pres. Rody Duterte and Pres. Donald Trump were not released yet to the media, this is not the first time that the US President personally called the Philippine President through telephone lines.



The conversation between Pres. Duterte and Pres. Trump lasted 18 minutes according to news report presented by Joseph Morong of GMA News Online.

The Philippines has one of the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia, with 6,259 cases. Of that number according to Department of Health, 409 have died and 572 have recovered from the deadly disease.

The United States, meanwhile, has the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths worldwide, with 735,366 people who have contracted the viral diseases and 39,095 deaths because of it.
