Lawyer Slams Etta Rosales for Saying She Wants New SolGen After Marcos Case Dismissal

Veteran lawyer and prominent social media personality, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles slammed Etta Rosales after she revealed during an interview with ANC that she wanted a new Solicitor General after the dismissal of another Marcos case.

According to Etta Rosales, former CHR Lawyer, the Philippines needs to have another SolGen after state lawyers lost another forfeiture case against he Marcos family.

The statement made by Rosales caught the attentions of veteran DDS Lawyer, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles who explained how the Marcos cases were prosecuted, as told by former PCGG Chairman Hayde Yorac.

The case against the Marcoses weren't really really serious, a great number of cases were filed very late and with minimal evidence because they were about to prescribe which means that the cases were supposed to expire but they were given a chance by the Sandiganbayan and the Supreme Court in terms of the deadline.

Many of the cases against the Marcos Family were being dribbled because of lack of evidence presented and the PCGG were still possibly looking for substantive evidence.

Read the Complete Statement of Atty. Trixie Angeles:

Madame Etta, this is how the Marcos cases were prosecuted, and this was told to be by former PCGG chairman Haydee Yorac.

They weren’t really serious. A great number of cases were filed very late and with minimal evidence because they were about to prescribe. Meaning mapapaso na ang kaso, so inurada yung pag file. Partida, pinagbigyan na sila ng Sandiganbayan at ng Korte Suprema niyan sa deadline.

In many instances, from the first PCGG until prior to Com. Yorac, many of the cases were being dribbled, dahil walang ebidensya.

Naghanap ba ang PCGG ng ebidensya? In many cases, hindi. Breakthrough nga nuon ang mga na locate sa Switzerland na deposits, which the Yorac PCGG eventually was able to collect. Siya din ang nakapanalo sa mga Conjuanco cases involving San Miguel shares and the coco levy fund.

There was constantly boiling tension between Frank Chavez, then SolGen and several of the PCGG chairmen during his term due to evidence that would suddenly go missing or... as Chavez himself told me, were shredded.

Haydee Yorac later confirmed to me that she had the paper shredders in PCGGremoved. She also ordered an inventory of the cases and case files, many of which were mysteriously missing.

In short, the PCGG has been burdened, since day one with allegations of incompetence and corruption, many of which are true.

Andy Bautista himself, when he became PCGG chairman, is belived to have collected from ghost employees. And just to show the seriousness with which he dealt with his job, one of his first acts in office was to have it remodelled.

So why is it such a surprise that it is losing cases? Few commissioners were serious about them, and many simply used the assets to milk them for personal gain.

And while it is true that the PCGG cases are handled by the Solgen, the long history of negligence and outright unjust handling of the cases — especially those filed withut evidence— had happened long before his term. Xeroxes instead of original for evidence? Alamin nyo kaya kung na shred dati yung mga orig.

Clearly, madame Etta, you’re targetting the Solgen for reasons other than losing the Marcos cases. Because many of these didnt have the remotest chance of winning.
