The controversial wife of Junel Insigne, the captain of the sunk Filipino boat at the Recto Bank, made headlines anew in the mainstream media after she challenged Pres. Rody Duterte to personally visit them in Mindoro if he really wanted to talk with her husband.
Lani Insigne the wife of Junel Insigne who onwed the F/B Gem-Ver explained during an interview with the mainstream media that she decided to convince her husband to cancel the scheduled meeting with the President because of her anger after a government official downplayed the incident.
The wife of Junel Insigne challenged the President that if he really wanted to talk to the fisherment, he should go personally to Mindoro, the place where Junel and his wife lived.

Last Sunday, it was reported that the President was scheduled to meet with the 22 fishermen, particularly the boat captain Junel Insigne, so they can talk about what really happened during the incident in the West Philippine Sea involving an alleged ramming by Chinese vessels.
Despite the announcement of the President, the boat captain made a decision not to meet with the President for some personal reasons but it was later found out that the wife of Junel was responsible for the decision not to meet the President.
Controversies ensued on social media after numerous social media post showing that the camp of the Office of the Vice President conducted a meeting with Junel Insigne and the Vice President herself is scheduled to meet the boat captain in Mindoro.
