Our website PhilNews.XYZ made a name for itself especially among the supporters of Pres. Rody Duterte through social media but due to the recent introduction of one-sided fact-checkers in the Philippines our reach and influence suffered a huge blow that's the reason why we decided to join a community of like-minded individuals involving cryptocurrencies and decentralized network.
We decided to join Steemit.com, a social media platform where everyone gets paid for creating and curating content. It leverages a robust digital point system called Steem for digital rewards.
For the past few months we experienced a massive pullout of daily traffic because of the fact that we mainly get our traffic through social media, and the most popular one is Facebook.
During the heights of the Duterte popularity, it is indeed very easy for us make hundreds of thousands of engagements but due to some influence of Anti-Duterte personalities being tasked to be the fact-checkers in the Philippines, our traffic suffered a huge blow.
Here Are Some of the Reasons Why We Joined Steemit.com and used the digital point system called Steem:
1. Steemit provided us with an uncensored social media platform to write about the things that we care about.
2. Steemit is without a doubt one of the best educational platforms we have today.
3. Joining Steemit is an opportunity to either invest or network with people who are investing so that they can help us with our work in the future.
4. Joining Steem is also for passive income or retirement. In the Philippines, a lot of well off Filipinos invest in real estate for passive income via rent but real estate has a lot of maintenance fees and even requires effort.
FYI: Steemit is just the most popular Steem-based site since it was originally just a sample site. There are other Steem-based website and applications.
Blockchain and cryptocurrencies is said to be what the internet was in the 90's and if we look back on the last 20 years, almost all of the money made has been internet related. This simply means that the future of work and income will likely be related to blockchains and cryptocurrencies, even if we don't know yet what those jobs will be.
The internet disrupted businesses but blockchain and cryptocurrencies will disrupt banking and possibly even Governments.
We would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to @ChrisRice, one of the founder of Steem Philippines Group on Facebook and the Steemit Davao City Community. Steem is considered as the largest active cryptocurrency community in the world and Chris Rice dreams of making Davao City as the Steem Capital o the Philippines someday.
