Netizens took to social media as they slams all the candidates of the "Otso Diretso" senatorial slate for their statement opposing the possible revival of death penalty in the Philippines.
Concerned netizen Jen Jen stated that maybe the Otso Diretso candidates oppose the death penalty revival because of the fact that their bestfriends who were priests could be used as example therefore who will pray for them.
The reactions of netizens against the Otso Diretso statement came out after the candidates released an official statement to the media saying that although they grieved for the family of the victims of the brutal killings in Lapu Lapu City, it is not enough reasons to revive the death penalty in the country.

There has been mounting calls for the re-imposition of death penalty in the Philippines, after the Grade 12 student, Christine Silawan was raped, murder and even skinned to the skull by still unknown criminals over the weekend.
All the Otso Diretso candidates condemned the brutal killings but stressed that the returned of the death penalty will not stop such crime instead they push for reforms in the country's justice system.
