The Controversial congressman who made headlines earlier for allegedly harassing an airport security personnel ACTS OFW Partylist Rep. Aniceto "John" Bertiz made headlines last July 2018 as one of the accused in the controversial P6.8 Million DOLE "bribery case," filed a by certain Azizzah Salim.
According to the sworn statement of Azizzah Salim, the owner of Azizzah International Manpower Services, the wife of Congressman Bertiz was allgedly the one whom Salim approached for the much needed help, after the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) cancelled the license of her recruitment agency.
As the wife of the lawmaker and representative of OFW in Congress, the owner of the agency thought that Bertiz wife could her on the problems she was facing with the POEA.
Based upon the allegations presented by Azizzah Salim, the wife of Congressman Bertiz claimed that she has connection with the DOLE in the person of former DOLE Undersecretary Dominador Say, who has also the jurisdiction of all cancelled licenses of recruitment agencies.
With the help of Congressman Bertiz, Salim was albe to met with Vanessa "Ness" Josue, the alleged "runner" of Say. Both parties agreed with the P5 million and P50,000 retainer fee every month for the law firm of Undersecretary Say.
Despite of all the agreement between the wife of Congressman Bertiz and the alleged former Undersecretary of DOLE, the POEA failed to returned the license of Azizzah Salim. Last April 16, the agency ownerr met with Pres. Duterte and revealed all the accusations against Say and Congressman Bertiz after she paid with P6.8 million to the DOLE Undersecretary.
Congressman Bertiz was also accused by some sources from DOLE as the one who made some measures to discredit Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to the public and to the President of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte. The allegations against Bertiz came out after Sec. Bello denied the congressman's offer to let his company be the one to win the contract for the ID Project of DOLE.
The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) already endorsed the case against Undersecrtary Say and Congressman Bertiz and his wife based upon the sworn affidavit of Azizzah Salim.
