Sen. JV Ejercito: "The Financial Statement of PhilHealth is Alarming!"

Senator Joseph Victor (JV) Ejercito expressed concern and was alarmed with the Financial Statement of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) status. For the year 2017, PhilEhalth reported P8.920 billion net loss in their Financial Statement.

Sen. JV Ejercito, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography revealed that this is the first time that PhilHealth incurred billions of losses, although the agency already downplayed the 2017 Net Loss claiming that it is only P4.751 billion due to double entry in Benefit Claims.

Based upon the records of PhilHealth, during the year 2016, the agency recorded an annual income of P109,661,185,364.55 income but the Benefit Payments reached P102,130,696,376.36 or a total of P251,531,094.54 net income loss.

For the year 2017, PhilHeatlh income is at P112,323,184,150.17 which is lower compared to the benefit payments at P114,660,111,524.04 or a total Net Income Loss of P8,920,540,714.33.

The records was based on the 2010-2016 PhilHealth COA Annual Audit Report and Unaudited 2017 Financial Statement of PhilHealth.

Here's the Complete Statement of Sen. JV Ejercito:

For 2017, Philhealth reported P8.920 billion net loss in their Financial Statement.

This is the first time that Philhealth incurred billions of losses. They downplayed the 2017 Net Loss claiming that it is only P4.751 billion due to double entry in Benefit Claims.

However, P4.751 billion is still a Net Loss that might have resulted either from mismanagement, lack of leadership, or corruption.

This is a FINANCIAL HEMORRHAGE that needs to be resolved, otherwise, it will cause the collapse of Philhealth!
