Jose Alejandrino Challenge Duterte Critics to Enlist and Fight Against China to Retake Mischief Reef
Veteran columnist and political analyst Jose Alejandrino posted a very intriguing message on social media as he challenged all the critics of Pres. Rody Duterte on his foreign policy with China to enlist and fight China's occupation by retaking the Mischief Reef in the Spratly Group of Islands.
According to Jose Alejandrino, the Chinese occupied Mischief Reef was taken from the Philippines during the Ramos Presidency while the Scarborough Shoal during the Noynoy Aquino presidency but the US did not nothing and so we were helpless to do anything about it other than protest.
Right now, some Pinoys, mostly from the yellow camp, are urging the Duterte admin to confront China militarily over those islets despite the fact that it was not Pres. Duterte who lost them but now the Dilawans want the President to go to war over them.
Jose Alejandrino suggested that if the critics of the President really wanted to go to war against China, they should enlist and step forward to fight as what Pres. Duterte suggested. The Duterte government could drop them enlisted men who were critics of the President. Let's see how many will enlist and how many of them will walk the talk.
Here's the Complete Statement of Jose Alejandrino:
THEY WANT WAR? I Jose Alejandrino
Mischief Reef was taken from us during the FVR presidency and Scarborough Shoal during the Noynoy presidency. The US did nothing. We were helpless to do anything about it other than protest.
The US wasn't particularly worried because it knew its aircraft carriers could take out those islets with just a few bombs in case of war. As an American friend told me, they won't risk a nuclear war with China over a few rocks.
Today, some Pinoys, mostly from the yellow camp, are urging Duterte to confront China militarily over those islets. It was not Duterte who lost them but now want Duterte to go to war over them.
If we went to war, China won't bother to invade us. All it needs to do is send a few Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles armed with a 25-megaton nuclear warhead equivalent to 25-million tons of TNT to hit Manila, Cebu, and Davao. The A-bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima by the Americans in 1945 was the equivalent of 15,000 tons of TNT. Yet it killed immediately 80,000 Japanese civilians and another 60,000 from the aftereffects of radiation and burns arising from the blast. A 25-megaton nuclear warhead that hits Manila can wipe out its entire populace. Some 12 million can die immediately.
In case of that scenario, is the US willing to trade some of its cities on its West Coast to retaliate against a Chinese nuclear strike on Manila, and say, Cebu and Davao? I say dream on.
The president is right to say all those who want to fight China should step forward and enlist. We could drop them over Mischief Reef and let them fight the Chinese to recover it. Let's see how many will enlist. Let's see how many of them will walk the talk. My guess is they're just brave on fb but when it comes to a real fight they will scamper like dogs on their tail.
War has never been a solution to conflicts. The better way is through patience and quiet diplomacy. But the yellows don't understand this. They're egging Duterte to fight a war they themselves are afraid to fight on the battlefield. Pure yellow hypocrisy.
