The tough-talking President of the Philippines, President Rodrigo "Roa" Duterte made headlines anew as he burned down one of his harshest critic, Sen. Antonio Trillanes who accused him of his supposed plans in closing down Boracay Island.
Sen. Trillanes said in various interviews that Boracay will be closed down due to planned casino to be constructed in the area but Pres. Duterte denied the allegations of Trillanes by burning down the senator in an interview with the media.

The first and only President from Mindanao clarified the issue about the fake news proliferating on social media and even the national media that President Duterte's closure was due to the fact he will allow a Casino to be built in Boracay and this was allegedly initiated by various statements released by Sen. Trillanes.
The controversial senator who is a close ally of the Liberal Party, Sen. Trillanes questioned the "real motive" behind Boracay's closure. Trillanes said that "I don't believe that Mr. Duterte is an environmentalist. Boracay may be closed because of a casino" Trillanes said.
Trillanes statement is also contrary to the announcement released by the Department of Tourism that says "...they have NOT received an 'Application for Accreditation' from a Casino."
This is what Pres. Duterte said about the closure of Boracay. Pres. Rody Duterte said that he just wanted to clarify that he never said that Boracay's closure was due to the construction of a casino. His plans is to put Boracay Island under land reform program and he will give it to farmers because it was already classified as forestland and agricultural land.
