Must Watch: Pres. Duterte's List of Railway Projects Worth P1-Trillion for the Build, Build, Build Program

An estimated P9 Trillion worth of major infrastructure projects will be implemented by the administration of Pres. Rody Duterte under the ambitious Build, Build, Build Program which will usher the Golden Age of Infrastructure in the Philippines.


Pres. Duterte allocated enough budget for the list of railways which will be constructed under the Duterte administration. DZRH reported that majority of the infrastructure projects were under the implementation of the DPWH and DOTr.

The Department of Budget and Management also revealed that out of the P9-Trillion infrastructure projects, an estimated P1-Trillion budget was already allocated for the construction of some major railway projects in various parts of the country.

One of the major railway projects in the Philippines is the Mindanao Railway Project Phase 1 which was allocated with P35-Billion. The 102-kilometer railway in Mindanao will connect Tagum City and Digos City in Region 11. It is estimated to be completed in the year 2022.

The DOTr and the DPWH will also start the construction in 2018 the P211-Billion Philippine National Railway North 2 that will be completed within six years. The 70-kilometer railway is an extension of the PNR North 1, from Malolos, Bulacan to Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

By the year 2021, the Duterte admin expects the complete construction of the PNR North 1, the railway project that connects Tutuban up to Malolos, Bulacan also known as the North-South Commuter Railway.

The Duterte admin also finished the construction of the PNR South Commuter Line Project. The 640-kilometer route connects Los Banos up to Legazpi and Matnog-Calamba up to Batangas. It also connects Los Banos to Manila. The national government allocated more than P175-billion.

The DOTr also announced that by 2019, the agency will start the implementation and construction of the Metro Manila Subway Project with an estimated P355-Billion budget for the very first undergound railway in the country. The 25-kilometer underground railway will connect Quezon City, Taguig City and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
