The incoming Vice President of the Republic, Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio condemned journalist Raissa Robles for controversial statement against Mindanao and it's people the Mindanawans.
VP Sara Duterte slammed the journalist and one of the country's Facebook fact-checker, Raissa Robles for her remarks that were consided by the Vice President and other netizens as "insulting" and a "demonization" of Mindanao.
The self-confessed Dilawan and Pinklawan supporter, Raissa Robles had commented on Twitter on the plans of incoming Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, daughter of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, to open up tourism in Mindanao.
Robles on her Twitter account commented that she is sure that the extremist Abu Sayyaf and other bandits would be pleased by the prospects of so many potential victims.
The statement made by Robles on social media went viral after it was posted by numerous pages on Facebook and it reached the desk of incoming Vice President Sara Duterte who slammed the journalist for her statement.
According to Mayor Inday Sara the statement of Robles are replete with journalistic recklessness and irresponsibility, something that calls for our collective condemnation as it grossly discriminated against all Mindanawanons, especially those living in Moro communities.
The incoming Vice President stated further that what Robles did was demonization of Mindanao and an insult to its people, who also deserve to experience the gains of the Duterte administration over the past six years.
VP Sara clarified that what Robles wanted is to undervalue everything that the Duterte administration has done in keeping the peace and security in Mindanao and ensuring that concerns caused by any groups are addressed appropriately with the help of the local governments and leaders of the communities.
Aside from the incoming Vice President, a lawmaker from partylist group KUSUG TAUSUG, Rep. Shernee Tan-Tambut invited Raissa Robles to visit Mindanao and see for herself how peaceful the place right now.
