The world's only eight-division world champion and the fighting pride of the Philippines, Senator Manny Pacquiao will earned millions of dollars despite losing his fight against Yordenis Ugas.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao lost to Yordenis Ugas during their world title fight inside the world-renowned T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Yordenis Ugas defeated Manny Pacquiao to hold onto his WBA Welterweight belt via unanimous decision (116-112, 116-112, 115-113) on Saturday or Sunday morning in the Philippines (August 22, 2022).
According to various spots network in the United States, Sen. Manny Pacquiao could take home as much as 25 million USD, despite having to change his rival at the last minute after former opponent Errol Spence Jr.'s eye injury was detected in a medical examination 11 days before the fight.
The decision of Spence to withdraw from the fight, could mean that people are less likely to pay to watch the fight, which could lead into the dropping in terms of PPV buys.
Business Mirror on their report revealed that Manny Pacquiao is expected to earn $5 million approximately Php251 million guaranteed purse and could earn up to $25 million depending on how well the pay-per-view sold. One of the leading sports network in the US, Fox Sports PPV price is $74.99.
When compared to the last fight of Manny Pacquiao, which happened two years ago, Pacquiao earned $10 million guaranteed plus PPV percentage.
The Pacquiao-Thurman fight did approximately 500,000 PPV buys. If that kind of number repeats with Pacquiao-Ugas fight, we'd be looking at revenue of approximately $37,495,000 or Php1,887,508,048.70 (Php1.8 Billion).
If Pacquiao got 60% fo that figure, he'd take home an additional $22,479,000 or P1.1 Billion on top of his $5 million guaranted prize.
Meanwile Yordenis Ugas, the winner during the Welterweight title bout, could make around one million USD but based on the latest statement of various boxing experts, Ugas might earned at least $2 million plus percentage of the PPV buys.
The estimates above are not final because there will be taxes to be paid to the US government, payment for his manager and coaches.
