DITO Telecom Warns the Public on Land Scams for Tower Construction

The third telecommunications company in the country which aims to compete against Globe and Smart, DITO Telecommunity warns the general public anew on reported land scams in connection with the construction of DITO Towers.



Atty. Adel Tamano, Chief Executive Officer of DITO appealed to the public to only transact with duly authorized representatives of the company, after they received reports of illegitimate groups in various parts of the country promising the public and their idle lands to be considered for site acquisition.



DITO stressed that one of the signs of a potential "scam" is when an alleged representatives approach land owners and collect registrations fee for a seminar or demand advance commission before processing the alleged requirements.

Atty. Tamano added further that "We ask for the public's support by way of dealing only with authoritzed representatives of DITO, and reporting questionable persons and practices to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

The company is working closely with DICT to protect the welfare of land owners.

According to various reports some individuals promised landowners to be given the priority for their lots to be chosen as DITO Tower sites with millions of pesos in transactions but most of them were indeed bogus.



The company, DITO Telecommunity Corporation is the former Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (MISLATEL). It is the third major telecommunications provider in the Philippines after it was awarded a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity by the National Telecommunications Commmission in 2019.
