Sen. Binay Defends Elanel Ordidor Who Might Get Deported Because of Criticizing Pres. Duterte

Senator Nancy Binay made headlines on various national news media outlets after she defended an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Taiwan because of criticizing Pres. Rody Duterte.

Sen. Binay reminded the labor attaches of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Taiwan to defend the OFW who's currently facing possible deportation because of her criticism against Pres. Duterte.

Sen. Nancy Binay shared on her official Twitter account a news article from CNN about the request of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to Taiwan to deport Filipina caregiver Elanel Egot Ordidor because of allegedly committing a cyber libel against the country's chief executive.

According to Binay the labor attaches in Taiwan should not become the modern-day 'Makapili' and should assist Ordidor in her case.

Based on history, the Makapili is the group of Filipinos hired by the Japanese Imperial during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines or during World War II to act as their spies and informants to catch the Filipino guerrillas fighting for freedom of the Motherland, the Philippines.

“Paalala lang po sa mga labor attaches na kayo ang kanlungan at sandigan ng ating mga OFW. Wag maging Bagong Makapili sa harap ng mga bagong bayani,” Binay tweeted.

The Department of Labor and Employment announced yesterday that they already informed the employer of Ordidor about her statements against the President of the Republic. The also expresssed disappointment to the Filipina caregiver for not cooperating with DOLE.
