Congress & NTC Extend Kapamilya Broadcast Operation After May 4, 2020

Veteran broadcaster and journalist Jay Sonza claimed on his Facebook Page that the Philippine Congress and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) extended the Kapamilya Broadcast Operation after May 4, 2020.


The news report according to Jay Sonza was irst published in the official Facebook Page of ABS-CBN. It was based on a report that Congress leaders are meeting today to address the expiry status of their network franchise and permit to operate.



ABS-CBN also reported that the National Telecommunications Commission assured the broadcast coporation of an automatic extension due to the pandemic situation.

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano was cited by ABS-CBN as the one initiating the moves to have the Senate leadership thru Sen. Bong Go to agree on a joint congressional resolution to authorize the issuance of provisional permit to operate.

During the past few weeks, Pres. Rody Duterte announced through various social media platforms that he will reject any move to have the broadcast franchise of the Lopez owned network extended or renewed during his watch.

However, Jay Sonza clarified that Speaker Cayetano, Sen. Go and NTC Commissioner Cordoba have not issued any denial or confirmation on the new media published report.

Yesterday, ABS-CBN News FB Page published on social media a report that Congress leaders are meeting today to address the expiry status of their network franchise and permit to operate.

In the same news posted by the network, it said the National Telecommunications Commission assured the broadcast corporation of an automatic extension due to the pandemic situation.

The same news released pointed to Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano as initiating moves to have the Senate leadership thru Sen. Bong Go agree on a joint congressional resolution to authorize the issuance of a provisional permit to operate.

Earlier, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte announced that he will reject any move to have the broadcast franchise of the Lopez owned network extended or renewed during his watch.

Speaker Cayetano, Sen. Go and NTC Commissioner Cordoba have not issued any denial or confirmation on the new media published report.
