Philippines' 22 Gold Opening Day Haul, 2 Gold Medals Short of the 2017 Overall Performance

The 22-Gold Medal haul of the Philippine Team in the 30th Southeast Asian Games is just two (2) golds shy of the 2017 overall total performance of 24 gold medals for the entire tournament.

This means that in just one day, we are just 2 gold medals short from our entire 2017 SEA Games performance in Malaysia.

The country's hosting of the 30th SEA Games is off to an amazing start after the spectacular Opening Ceremony, our Filipino athletes have taken the centerstage in a huge medal swoop, claiming the top spot with 22 Golds just one day into the 11-day competition.

The Philippines is now leading the Game's scoreboard for both the most Gold Medals and the highest total accumulated podium-ranking performances.

Among the sports our country has taken the Gold includes the women's triathlon, women's wushu, women's sepak takraw and men's gymnastics.

The 10 golds courtesy of dancesport already accounted for half of the total of 22 the host country won on Monday that propelled it to the top of the medal tally. The Filipinos also had 10 silvers and five bronzes.
