Camp Sawi Bantayan Island Facebook Page Hacked... Please Don't Make Transaction

A former colleague and friend of mine contacted me on social media to inform me that one of his most popular Facebook Page with more than 50,000 Followers named Camp Sawi Bantayan Island, was hacked by an unknown individual who got access with his Facebook Manager and kicked him out as the Page Admin.

According to the Page owner and creator of Camp Sawi Bantayan Island, the FB Page was created during the year 2016 for him to showcase the beauties and tourist destinations of his hometown Bantayan Island.

The Page became one of the most followed Facebook Page not only in Bantayan Island but also in the entire Cebu Province. Some of his post even generated more than a million views on Facebook.

Based on the accounts of the Facebook user who refused to divulged his full name for security reasons, somebody contacted him pretending to be someone from BuzzFeed.com and offered him an opportunity to work with the company.

My friend admitted that he made some lapses in judgement by allowing somebody to give an instruction to him on how to integrate the Facebook Instant Articles, but before the integration, the said bogus FB user from Buzzfeed told him to see first the statistics of the page Camp Sawi by sending a link.

The link turned out to be a Facebook Account Business Manager of the said bogus person and without the knowledge of my friend he added his Camp Sawi Bantayan Island FB Page.

After following the instruction, my friend soon realized that, there could be some problem with the granted access, and he was in fact correct because the Page Owner was changed, and my friend was downgraded to an Analyst instead of being a Page Admin.

This is the time that he could no longer control all the access of the Page and lost the Camp Sawi Bantayan Island FB Page from the bogus user who hailed from Pakistan.

I advice my friend to be careful with any links send to his other Page via the messenger option because this scam have been around for the past few years.

We urged our fellow citizens to please Unfollow the Facebook Page Camp Sawi Bantayan Island and should NOT TRANSACT with this Page anymore.
