Ex-Mayor Erap Estrada Wants to be Mayor of Manila Again, Claims Still Strong

The controversial former President of the Republic and former Manila Mayor, Joseph "Erap" Ejercito Estrada is planning to make a political comeback in 2022 despite his old age as he claimed he is still strong.

Ex-Manila Mayor Erap Estrada who's already 82 years old and will turn 85 years old during the next Mayoral Election is expected to face the most popular Mayor in the Philippines today, Mayor Isko Moreno.

According to Estrada, he believes he could still match his younger opponent, the former celebrity-turned politician, comparing himself to the 92-year-old Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

In an interview with the media, Erap Estrada was quoted as saying "If I have a chance to come back, I will. I’m still strong," Estrada said.

The decision of Estrada to still run for Manila City Mayor came out recently despite the numerous accolades received by Mayor Isko Moreno on social media for his successful programs for the benefits of the residents of the City.

During the 2019 local elections in the City of Manila, Erap Estrada was lost overwhelmingly against Mayor Isko Moreno with a huge number. Estrada was defeated by Mayor Moreno with 140,000 votes.

In order to proved to Erap supporters that he is still ready to face off against Moreno, he didn't plan to sell his house in Santa Mesa so he could still become a resident of the country's capital.

Ex-Mayor Erap Estrada also denied all allegations that he received bribe during his tenure as the city's local chief executive, from so-called organizers who are allowing the illegal vendors to operate in different parts of Manila.

He also noted that the clearing operation ordered by Mayor Isko Moreno around Manila is his style to gain popularity in exchange for the livelihood of poor business people.
