A Yolanda rescue and relief worker dubbed by many residents in Leyte as their hero, Krizette Laureta Chu, a blogger defender of Pres. Duterte revealed some of the most interesting reasons why Rep. Martin Romualdez should not chosen as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to Krizette Chu during the year 2014, Rep. Martin Romualdez awarded her with the recognition as "heroine of Haiyan" among others, in an all-about-him event in Quezon City. She found out later that the awarding ceremony was highly politicized with a mini-concert featuring Daniel Padilla.
The event according to Chu was a self promotional event allegedly in favor of Romualdez, bannering itself as an awarding ceremony but really was a branding and marketing event.
The veteran micro-blogger revealed that Martin Romualdez, son of the brother of Imelda, sails in the South of France while Yolanda was impending, had vans with his tarpaulin going around post Yolanda while the island of Leyte was still struggling with food and fuel scarcity, turns a deaf ear towards environmentalists asking his wife to please not continue with the sky lantern festival, and in a show of arrogance and stupidity, absolved Mar Roxas of Yolanda culpability when he absolutely had no right to.

In 2014, Martin Romualdez gave me an award as a “heroine of Haiyan,” among many others, in a poorly organized, all-about-him event in Quezon Circle. It was a poorly veiled event that branded him as someone who had the right to recognize those who worked hard for Yolanda rescue and relief, like he was the expert and the hero during this dark period in our history as Warays. Many people confuse him for Alfred, his cousin, the Mayor who got into a word war with Roxas.
That was the may silbing Romualdez during Yolanda ops, not this Martin.
I went to the awarding ceremony not knowing he would politicize that event. I almost left when I found out he’d be handing the award, because I disliked him even then, but didn’t because it was a friend who talked me into accepting that award, plus I wanted to see how the event would unfold.
I was right. It was an event about him. It even had Daniel Padilla there. And performers. And a mini concert. I’ve always had a keen sense that Martin has been building his career into something bigger than what he actually has chops—and a heart—for. I remember waiting hours for him to arrive, and then for the concert to finished, and it took 2 seconds for me to get that piece of paper I never even bothered to keep. It was a self promotional event that bannered itself as an awarding ceremony but really was a branding and marketing event.
Remember when, during a typhoon some time ago, there were vans going around Naga with the face of BBM and Martin in them dispensing “help?” And there was a stage pa where both were “helping?”
Apparently, Martin’s idea.
Speaking of BBM, his maternal cousin.
Martin Romualdez is the person I was expecting BBM to be.
As the child of Imelda Marcos, I was expecting BBM to be an extravagant show off, a person who does not listen to small people, a person who will marry a beauty queen who thinks so highly of herself, a trophy wife who doesn’t listen to people’s environmental concerns because, why, when they run unopposed anyway. Who do they have to fight against?
Nope, BBM married an Araneta who is a lawyer.
It was Martin Romualdez who did all those.
And to be fair, from people I trust very much and who has no intention to lie because they’re not political, BBM for his utter refusal to amend for his family’s sins, is as far from Imeldific as possible. (At least now in his old life.)
He takes coach, and is known for his stinginess. He is low key, and shuns the excesses his family is known for.

It’s a fucking oligarch absolving another fucking oligarch. That’s the kind of entitlement and disgusting bravado that Martin Romualdez has.
Martin is a power hungry, ambitious politician who will use his money to get what he wants.
This man is ruthless in his ambition, and I wonder if there is any truth to the rumors about him and how he has used his money to wiggle his way into the good graces of his fellow congressmen so he gets their vote for Speakership. I would give him the benefit of the doubt, and I am not saying it’s true, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did, because he seems the type. Remember the million peso dinner GMA had in NYC that put her in hot water? Care of that show off, of course.
This is why I understand Sara Duterte pushing Lord Allan Velasco, and not him, because he is trapo the core.
Sara Duterte’s choice is the right choice because she is working for the best interest of her dad, and it is our job as citizens who care for this country to make sure our government is working as one, and that includes supporting her choice as House Speaker and kicking out an entitled, self absorbed, ambitious, power hungry trapo and putting him in his place.
And to all the Congressmen, siguraduhin ninyo, in this era of change, na wala kahit sinuman ang makakabili ng boto ninyo. Wag kayong kadiri. P500,000 or even P1 million is a very small price compared to the progress of this country that will benefit us all.
