San Miguel Corporation top honcho and owner of the local BMW distributor in the Philippines SMC Asia Distritors Corporations or SMCDC, Mr. Ramon S. Ang donates a total of 50 Brand New BMW G310R Motorbikes to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) will receive the donations from San Miguel Corporations today. The turn-over of the modern motorcycle worth P300,000 each will be witness by the leadership of the PNP headed by Director General Oscar Albayalde and the top officials of SMCDC.
The motorcyles donated by RSA's SMC Foundation are not as flashy as the 60's RS50s but the GR310 is a nimble and sporty-looking roadster jointly produced by BMW and Indian motorcylce company TVS.
The turnover ceremony of the brand new BMW Motorcyles to the PNP will be held at the Transformation Oval in Camp Crame. It will be attended by Spencer Yu, President of SMCADC; Kin Lichauco, vice president for corporate affairs of San Miguel Foundation; and Cheska Garcia, marketing division head of Petron Corporation.
Among those who will witness the event are officials of the BMW Owners Society of Safe Riders (BOSS), led by Lito Flores, and members of the HPG Advisory Council who were instrumental in the implementation of the project. PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde and PNP-HPG director Chief Superintendent Robert Fajardo will receive the units, which now have official PNP markings with sirens and blinkers that conform with BMW safety and quality standards.
The PNP leadership will likely deploy the new units of BMW Motorcycles on EDSA because the G310R is lightweight and compact, to help eadse the daily traffic in the area. It could be useful also in the HPG's Anti-Crime Operations.
