PDEA Files Cases Against Fajardo, Acierto, Pirote, Dimayuga & Guban in Connection with the 11-Billion Shabu Shipment

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed to the media that a total of 44 individuals are now facing cases in relation to the controversial 11-Billion shabu shipment that were hidden inside four magnetic lifters that entered the country through the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Included in the 44 individuals were prominent members of the uniformed service of the country, particularly the Philippine National Police (PNP), they are former PDEA Deputy Director Gen. Ismael Fajardo, former PNP-AIDG OIC Eduardo Acierto, Police Inspector Lito Pirote and Joseph Dimayuga.

PDEA accused the said individuals with various cases such as violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Act, Obstruction of Justice, Revised Penal Code and Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. Aside from those mentioned above, former Customs Intelligence officer Jimmy Guban was also included in the list of 44 suspects.

According to PDEA Director for Legal and Prosecution Services Czareanah Aquino, intelligence officer Guban was included in the list because he is considered as one of principal or primary respondent but he is still part of the Witness Protection Program (WPP) of the Department of Justice.

Former Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña was not included in the list of suspects because of lack of evidence and the fact that there's not enough evidence to implicate the former PDEA Chief and the current BOC Commissioner.
