Sen. Trillanes Decide to Stay Inside the Senate Hall Until Weekend to Avoid Arrest

The most vocal critic of the Duterte administration, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV decided to stay inside the Senate Building to Avoid being arrested by authorities who are now waiting outside the Senate premises.

Sen. Trillanes statement not to surrender to authorities was based on the statement released earlier by Senate President Tito Sotto that none of his colleagues could be arrested inside the Senate premises as prescribed by law.

According to the most vocal critic of Pres. Duterte, he would challenged the proclmation 572 which stated that the amnesty given to the Senator by former Pres. Noynoy Aquino was declared void from the very beginning it was issued.

Sen. Trillanes even accused the Duterte administration of practicing a warrantless arrest if they will pursue to arrest him without the necessary papers, as authorities went to the Senate without showing any documents about the crime that the senator allegedly committed.

The senator who is closely alligned with the Liberal Part (LP) said that President Rody Duterte made history by being the first world leader to revoke an amnesty given to an individual. Sen. Trillanes was quoted as saying "Ito, gumagawa sila, binabaluktot nila ang batas para lang magawa nila yung kanilang political objective, which is to persecute the political opposition,” he said.

The former mutineer and spokesperson of the Magdalo Group who staged a failed mutiny against the government of Arroyo, stated that he already tasked his lawyers to file a petition before the Supreme Court to prove that Proclamation filed by Duterte against him is illegal.

Meanwhile, some Pro-Duterte bloggers urged Senate President Tito Sotto to remove Trillanes in his custody because he will never get the respect of the opposition despite protecting the fiercest critic of Pres. Rody Duterte.
