Former diplomat and veteran journalist Rigoberto Tiglao revealed on his latest column with The Manila Times the reasons why Filipinos' outrage breaks out against Sen. Antonio Trillanes, the alleged Aquino's attack dog in the Philippine Senate.
According to Rigoberto Tiglao the military mutineer Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, and his Yellow gangmates, thought that Pres. Duterte's offensive against him would end up protraying him as a hapless victim and trigger people's anger against the administration but what is happening is exactly the opposite.
Tiglao noted that Pres. Duterte's move to have thrown Trillanes in jail for the coup attempts he led in 2003 and 2007-for which he has not admitted guilt-has become the event that would touch off the unleashing of the simmering outrage against the arrogant coup ploter, who was allegedly the discredite Pres. Aquino's most unprincipled attack dog.
There's indeed huge rage against Trillanes and even more intense that the anger against Sen. De Lima when she was arrested and thrown in jail. Based upon the evidences presented by Tiglao, citing example from CNN Philippines FB Page which had a phenomenal 122,00 views and 3,800 comments as well as 173,000 views with 5,800 comments, and most of them were criticizing and showing anger against Trillanes.
This only means according to Tiglao that thousands of ordinary Filipino netizens took the time to express their angeer at Trillanes, many even remembering his arrogance durign the coup attempts he led. Even Trillanes colleague in the Senate, most reaction has been largely muted because of the barage of insults against politicians who supported and defended Trillanes.
Here's Several Reasons Why There's an Outrage Against Trillanes:
First, he has been attacking a very popular president, Duterte, in ways obviously solely intended to blacken his image, and not to check his government for corruption nor improve its governance.
Second, while Filipinos traditionally admire opposition figures, seeing them as crusaders against a powerful government, Trillanes has been viewed not as a crusader but entirely Aquino’s mercenary, his attack dog.
The third reason for the public outrage against Trillanes is the character he has demonstrated in the 11 years since he was elected senator in 2007. In the public’s eyes, he is a narcissist and a megalomaniac, so different from the reserved, and circumspect coup leader Gregorio Honasan.
Trillanes’ biggest flaw has been that of Aquino’s other minions like de Lima and former associate justice Lourdes Sereno: hubris. Trillanes believes in his heart that he is destined to lead the country.
