Pres. Rody Duterte to Visit Areas Affected by Bagyong Ompong (Photos)

The tough-talking President of the Republic, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte prepares for an immediate visit to typhoon Ompong affected areas to assess the devastation brought about by natural disaster that hits the country particularly in Northern part of Luzon.

PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar confirmed earlier the visit of Pres. Rody Duterte in the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela today as relayed to him by the President's top aide, SAP Bong Go.

According to Sec. Andanar "Oras na magbigay ng go signal ang CAAP ay pupunta mismo, didiretso po ang Pangulo sa mga lugar kung saan talagang napinsala nitong Bagyong Ompong (Once the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines gives the go signal, the President will head straight to the areas affected by Ompong) Andanar said.

The Department of Transporation (DOTr) under Secretary Arthur Tugade stated that they make sure that trucks and buses in Regions 1 and 3 are already provided if there is a need to transport relief goods and evacuees from other areas in the North.

The DPWH also deployed heavy equipment in affected areas before the onslaught of Bagyong Ompong, they were pre-positioned in areas affected by landslides namely Naguilan, Kenon and Marcos Highway.

The DTI for their part, assured that goods are still within the suggested retail price and there is adequate supply of rice in Baguio City. DSWD Acting Secretary Virginia Orogo already reported that a total of 34,808 families were affected by Bagyong Ompong from Region 1 to 3 and NCR.

The Office of the Civil Defense also reported that are are at least 711 Evacuation Centers housing 64,157 individuals during the onslaught of Bagyong Ompong.
