Makati RTC Branch 150 Ordered the Arrest of Sen. Trillanes for the 2007 Manila Peninsula Siege (Photos)

The Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 150 has ordered the arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege. Sen. Trillanes is facing a case for rebellion before Branch 150 Judge Elmo  Alameda, however it was dismissed following the granting of amnesty by then Pres. Benigno Aquino III.

The highly anticipated warrant of arrest for Sen. Antonio Trillanes is considered as one of the good news among the supporters of Pres. Rody Duterte who have been criticizing the senator for the past few days and keeps on using the Philippine Senate as its residence due to fear of being arrested.

Earlier this month, Pres. Rody Duterte issued Proclamation 572 revoking the amnesty given to Trillanes for being void ab initio or void from the beginning.

Proclamation 572 says Sen. Trillanes failed to submit an application form and that he did not admit his guilt in the crimes covered by the amnesty.

Upon the declaration of amnesty revocation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed an ex-parte motion seeking a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against Trillanes. The DOJ also asked the court to resume the trial with the prosecution presenting its evidence.

The Department of Justice also said that with the amnesty declared as void from the beginning, the dismissal of the case is also void.
