Netizens Lambasts Sen. Hontiveros for Plans to Declare August 16, as National Day of Remembrance of Kian's Death
Netizens took to social media as they lambasted one of the country's most controversial senator and a well-known critic of the Duterte administration, Sen. Risa Hontiveros for her plans to declare to file a resolution seeking to declare every 16th of August as "National Day of Remembrance" for all EJK victims.
Sen. Hontiveros has filed a resolution for the declaration of August 16 as a day of remembrance, through Resolution 848. The senator explained that Kian Delos Santos' death sparked national and international outrage, and underscored the human rights atrocities committed in the name of the administration's campaign against illegal drugs, even to innocent youth and children.
The proposal of Sen. Hontiveros was met with violent and negative reactions from netizens who read her proposal as reported by some of the country's major news network.
According to concerned netizen Melvin Valiente, he could agree with the proposal of Hontiveros as he urged the Senator to make a proposal also to declare the Yolanda tragedy because of the missing Yolanda funds; Dengvaxia Holiday to sympathize with the victims; Kidapawan Massacre Holiday; SAF44 Holiday; and the Luisita Massacre Holiday to declare as a national holiday through her proposal.
