The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the lead agency tasked by the President to lead the war against illegal drugs released the verified List of 207 Barangay Captains and Barangay Kagawads involved in illegal drug activities in the Philippines.
PDEA noted that the list says "alleged" which means that these names are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by any court of law.
Pres. Rody Duterte announced earlier that he will let PDEA to released the verified list of alleged Barangay officials involved in illegal drug activities in the country. Out of the 207 names verified by PDEA, 117 are Barangay Kagawads while 90 of them are Barangay Captains.
The anti-drug agency also noted that most of the Barangay Officials are from the Bicol Region or in Region 5, the home region of VP Leni Robredo and some other prominent politicians who were close ally of former President Noynoy Aquino.
According to PDEA Chief, Director General Aaron N. Aquino, they will file appropriate charges against the Barangay Officials allegedly involved in illegal drug activities in various parts of the Philippines.
