Veteran lawyer and former Biliran Congressman, Atty. Glenn Chong released a very interesting statement about some issues for Facebook to clarify with regards to the decision of Facebook to allow Rappler and Vera Files to fact-check fake news in the Philippines went viral on social media.
According to Atty. Glenn Chong, the world's largest social networking site, Facebook should clarify some issues regarding the role of Rappler and Vera Files for their fact-checking activities here in the Philippines.
The veteran lawyer asked that if "in case his Facebook posts are flagged by trolls as fake news," what standards will Rappler and Vera Files apply in their fact-checking task.
Atty. Chong also stated on how does Facebook uncover or prevent a biased application of these standards and how can he challenge a biased application of these standards in a timely manner.
The Pro-BBM lawyer noted further that if he can prove a biased application of these standards, what shall Facebook do with its fact-checkers.
Sharing of the viral statement released by Atty. Chong on social media was also encouraged by the lawyer as he asked his followers to share the same questions through their respective walls.
