AFP Reports More than 2000 NPA Rebels Surrendered Under Pres. Duterte's Presidency (Video)

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) revealed that there were more than 2,000 New People's Army members who decided to surrender their arms and joined the Duterte administration's efforts of lasting peace in the Philippines.



Based upon the record from Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) the NPA surrenderees includes 137 Regular NPA members; 319 Militiang Bayan; 204 Sangay ng Partido; and 1,376 member of the Underground Mass Organization with a total of 2,036.

The AFP also reproted that as of 2018 a total of 27 members of the NPA were killed while 18 NPAs were apprehended. The government also recovered a total of 164 firearms and 131 Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The third batch of the NPA rebels was invited by Pres. Rody Duterte and joined him in an exclusive dinner at Malacanang as they will also enjoy a tour in historical places in Manila aside from other events prepared by the Palace.

According to the AFP the third batch of surrenderees mostly came from Caraga Region, Region 10, Region 12, Davao del Sur and Davao City.
