During the condemnation of vehicles, Pres. Duterte witnessed how the road rollers crushed 20 high-end vehicles worth at least P61.6 million, which included brands and models like Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Jaguar, and Corvette Stingray.

Aside from the vehicles being condemned at the BoC main office in Manila, 10 other luxury vehicles were simultaneously done in the ports of Cebu City and Davao City.

During an interview with the media, Pres. Duterte said that the destruction of luxury cars was meant to send a message to wealthy car enthusiasts who do not pay right import duties. Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying "You want imported cars? Pay import duties first," Duterte earlier stated.

Former PDEA Chief turned Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña has said that his agency would destroy smuggled luxury cars instead of putting them up for auction.
