Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque lambasts Rappler anew for spreading fake news about his controversial statement on Benham Rise. According to Spox Roque mentioned that freedom of the speech and freedom of the press have always been his long-time advocacy.
The statement of Spox Harry Roque came out in light of the issue fo the Philippine Rise or Benham Rise quoting the Palace spokesperson that "the Philippines has no capacity to explore Benham Rise."
Spox Roque branded his quoted statement by Rappler as "Fake News." He explained that "Sa totoo lang po, itong issue ng Benham Rise nagulat ako, how prestigious publications can really publish fake news kasi malinaw na malinaw na sinabi ko sa tape..." Roque said.
The Palace spokesperson categorically denied the stories peddled by Rappler and other mainstream media that came out on the issue of Benham Rise saying that there were two questions asked on him during the press briefing. The first he explained why China was given permit to conduct scientific study and next he clarified that foreigners need to get permit but Filipinos could exploit the resources because we had the sovereign rights.
