The tough-talking President of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte revealed during a press briefing in Bukidnon that he will fire a chairman of a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC), three high ranking generals and at least 70 policemen from government service.
Pres. Duterte's statement was relayed to the media by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque who was quoted as saying "“It would appear that there’s a second chairman who might be replaced because of graft," Spox Roque stated.
The statement of Pres. Rody Duterte came out a few days after he removed former Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator Marcial Quirico Amaro III from his post due to excessive foreign trips which the President warned earlier of punishing.
Last Thursday in his speech during an event of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation at the Manila Hotel, Pres. Duterte announced that he intends to fire 40 to 70 policemen and three generals.
The President also noted during the first Cabinet Meeting of 2018, that he would also include the local government units in his effort to clean the bureaucracy of unscrupulous public officials.
Spox Harry Roque stated also that the President said he would also include the local government units in his effort to clean the bureaucracy of unscrupulous public officials.
The Presidential spokesperson explain that President Rody Duterte has concurrent jurisdiction even over the officials of the local government units.
Spox Harry Roque also confirmed that Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSCO) chairman Jose Jorge Corpus has resigned "due to health reasons." Roque clarified also that Corpus was not the chairman of a GOCC whom the President will terminate.
