Pres. Duterte Admits Firing CHED Chairperson Patricia Licuanan

The tough-talking President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte admitted during an event in Davao City, that he personally ordered the dismissal of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Patricia Licuanan, who already announced her resignation earlier.

Pres. Duterte did not cite any reasons for the immediate dismissal of the CHED Chairperson, but emphasized on the rampant corruption in government when he made the revelation.

According to the President, apart from Licuanan, "many will follow" as he tackles the lead in getting rid of erring public officials.

The 72-year-old President and former Mayor of Davao City was quoted as saying "I have dismissed Licuanan toady, the (chairperson) of CHED... and many will follow. Do not look at me as a saint," Pres. Duterte stated.

The President added further that "We are all the same, but I said, not so much about vices and everything, faults and maybe personal deficiencies. But money has not really been an issue," Pres. Dutete stated.

Before Pres. Duterte admitted that he was indeed the one who dismissed Licuanan from service, earlier Monday, the former CHED chairperson Licuanan, believed it was high time to reason as she lamented the supposed "well-orchestrated" move of some of her critics to ensure that she would be "out of CHED."

One of those lawmaker who accused Licuanan of abuse is no other than Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta Party-list Representative Jericho Nograles, as he accused the CHED chairperson of traveling abroad eight times in 2017 without MalacaƱang's nod.

The CHED Chairperson is now added to the long list of high ranking public officials who were ordered dismissed by the Duterte administration from office. Last January 4,MalacaƱang announced that Pres. Duterte dismissed former Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator Marcial Amaro III because of alleged excessive foreign trips.

Pres. Duterte already sacked ERC Chairman Jose Vicente Salazar, PCUP officials and Commissioner Terry Ridon, Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Chief Dionisio Santiago, and DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno to name a few.
