Atty. Rivera Lectures Human Rights Watch Director for Commenting in SEC Revocations of Rappler's Registration
Veteran lawyer and prominent social media personality who have been supporting Pres. Rody Duterte even before he was President lectures an international figure, Phelim Kine, who worked as Deputy Director for Asia Human Rights Watch, for meddling in the controversial case of Rappler after being rejected by the Securities and Exchange Commission by revoking their registration.
Phelim Kine in an interview with local news media outlet, News5 reacted on the latest controversy involving Rappler as he commented that "This decision was not wholly unexpected. The Philippine media is just the latest in a growing list of institutions and individuals-including United Nations officials-who have been vilified by Duterte for seeking accountability for human rights violations."
Phelim Kine added further that "If Duterte succeeds in silencing Rappler, it will have a profound chilling effect on Philippine media freedom, encouraging self-censorship by reporters and media outlets fearful of government reprisals for critical reporting at a time when the watchdog role of a free press is more urgently needed than ever."
Atty. Bruce Rivera took notice of the statement released by Phelim Kine and lectured the foreigner about the issue involving Rappler.
According to Atty. Rivera, the closure of Rappler happened but it was their own undoing. They angered a lot of people because of their irresponsible reporting.
Atty. Rivera admitted that he, himself is a victim as well because of his support for Pres. Duterte, it was tantamount to shaming because he was made a part of the triumvirate troll personality headed by alleged troll master propagandist Martin Andanar. Rappler allegedly found every way to demean Atty. Rivera because they had the power.

The closure of Rappler happened but it was their own undoing. They angered a lot of people because of their irresponsible reporting. I am a victim as well because of my support for Duterte. It was tantamount to shaming because I was made a part of the triumvirate troll personality headed by alleged troll master propagandist Andanar. Rappler found every way to demean me just because they had the power.
But when you hurt people, accuse them without proof them do not even give us the rectification through an apology? They will have enemies.
And they should have made sure they were clean. Because if they have enemies who can dig their dirt, it will surely find a way to destroy them.
PRD did not silence Rappler. Rappler started the assualt and bullying. He just responded to Rappler's agitation. Now, they act like they are the victims.
