Krizette Chu stated that the Filipino may starve to death without Mindanao, because it produces more or less 60 percent of the country's agricultural needs and exports. In fact ARMM is one of the biggest producers of food, and counts agriculture as its main source of income, with almost 70 percent of its residents working on it.
Despite the contribution of Mindanao to the Philippines it remained the poorest in the country, and nobody can understand the importance of Federalism better than the people of Mindanao.
