Sen. Grace Poe made headlines anew on social media after she asked an official from the National Telecommunications Communications (NTC) during the Senate Hearing on Fake News yesterday, January 30, 2018. The senator wants probe into Facebook and even asked the possility of blocking the social network in the Philippines as what China successfully did in their country.
According to Sen. Grace Poe she wanted to know the possibility of blocking Facebook. Sen. Poe stated "Can we block a particular company like Facebook from being access in the Philippines, I know they did this in China?

The NTC official responded by saying "yes" and Poe added further if the Philippines had the capability to do so, and it is possible according to the NTC official asked by Sen. Grace Poe during the hearing.
The former presidential candidate also wanted the Senate to make clear guidelines on social media. She was quoted saying "We need to know the clear guidelines of social media organizations in handling the activities of their users, and make sure that these neither infringe on the individual’s right to freedom of speech and expression nor allow the abuse of such freedom,” said Poe.
According to Sen. Poe, the said issue would be taken up when the Senate committee on public information and mass media, which she chairs, resumes its hearing on the proliferation of fake news. Poe added a separate inquiry may be called for if necessary.
Sen. Grace Poe also reiterated his call for PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar to make Mocha Uson responsible for everything she posted on social media and even gave some examples of Mocha's fake news on social media. It was later discovered that the example given by Poe was released on social media before Uson's appointment as PCOO Asec.
