Former DILG Secretary Reveals Why Maneuvering to Place Dengvaxia Mess Blame on Dr. Ona Won't Work

Former Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Rafael Alunan revealed on his latest social media post that maneuvering to place the Dengvaxia mess blame on Dr. Ona won't work this time.

The statement of Raffy Alunan came out after Inquirer reported that Pres. Aquino already admitted that he made a "mistake" when he earlier claimed that then Health Secretary Enrique Ona was present during his meeting with Sanofi Pasteur officials in Beijing in November 2014.

According to Alunan government's job was to conduct due diligence and follow prescribed protocols. Those were set aside to fast-track implementations as tesminonies will point out. The former Interior Secretary also noted on his social media post that the principles of "dereliction of duty" and "command responsibility apply. They are inescapable.

Here's the Complete Statement of Raffy Alunan:

Maneuvering to place the blame on Dr. Ona won't work.

Government's job was to conduct due diligence and follow prescribed protocols. Those were set aside to fast-track implementation as testimonies in Congress will point out.

Approvals were done in haste to suit political motives and objectives resulting in mass homicide and injury (still expected to rise) through criminal negligence and reckless imprudence.

The principles of "dereliction of duty" and "command responsibility" apply. They are inescapable.
