Rep. Romualdez to Pres. Duterte: Let the People Behind Substandard Yolanda Housing be Held Liable

Leyte Representative Yedda Marie Romualdez made an appeal to President Rody Duterte to let the people behind the substandard Yolanda Housing in Leyte be held liable for their crime against the victims of Yolanda.

The appeal of Rep. Romualdez came out after the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development hearing revealing that the contractors involved in the housing projects of Eastern Visayas worth P60 billion pesos uses substandard materials.

Rep. Romualdez reiterated his call for an investigation and noted that the funds allocated for the said Yolanda housing projects during the Aquino administration came from the people's money, therefore those people involve in the alleged controversy should be held liable and to determine how the budget were disbursed.

The lawmaker even noted that those who were using the funds illegally should rot in hell, the funds were supposed to be for the victims of Yolanda but some people were using the funds for their business ventures at the expense of poor taxpayers.

Rep. Romualdez felt ashamed and found it hard to face all the local and international donors who helped the Yolanda victims. She even felt being a victim for the second time due to the alleged anomalies of contractors building the Yolanda housing projects.

Two months from now, the province of Leyte and the entire Visayas region's victims of super typhoon Yolanda will commemorate the fourth anniversary of super typhoon Yolanda that devastated the Philippines and shocked not only the country but also the international communities.
