Palace Confirms Maute Group Has Looted P500 Million Worth of Money from Marawi City

The Malacañang Palace confirmed reports that the Maute local terror group who wrought havoc in Mindanao has looted an estimated P500 million worth of money from Marawi City.

According to Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella, some hostages who were able to escape said that they had been forced to loot and steal for the ISIS-inspired group during the Marawi siege.

"The estimate that the group alone was able to loot and steal at least P500 million in cash not to include other items they have taken in households and business establishments," Abella said in a press briefing.

The Presidential spokesman also revealed that the rescued and escaped hostages of Maute followed a daily schedule of looting and stealing. The revelations of the escaped hostages followed earlier reports that some women hostages have been forced to marry their terrorist captors and serve as sex slaves.

All these hostages also revealed that they were forced to convert to Islam or be killed. Aside from the looting, there are other revelations made by the rescued hostages but they are still being validated.

Before the confirmation of Malacañang Palace about the looting committed by the Maute terror group various photos circulated on social media showing how the group looted some houses in Marawi City.
