Outgoing Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III could no longer control his emotions as he was disappointed with the recent treatment of the PNP against the viral hit and run suspect.
Last June 15, 2022 the controversial driver identified as Jose Antonio Sanvicente decided to surrender to the authorities and asked for forgiveness to his security guard victim.
Despite the fact that the suspect already surrendered to authorities, Sen. Sotto called out the PNP to give their reasons why they failed to arrest the suspect.
Due to the recent development in the controversial hit and run case involving a rich individual and an ordinary security guard victim, Sen. Sotto relayed a message to the Philippine President Rody Duterte as he questioned the seemingly poor justice system in the country.
The senator also shared a tweet made by veteran journalist and TV Host Karen Davila who also showed dismay and disappointment towards the government particularly the PNP. The police authorities failed to arrest the suspect, instead they let the suspect go home after admitting the crimes he made.
Sen. Tito Sotto was quoted as saying "Kapag mahirap nagnakaw ng bayabas kulong agad! What's happening to our country Mr. President?" Sen. Sotto tweeted.
The veteran lawmaker also shared the Anti Drunk and Drugged Driving Law wherein all suspects of the hit and run incident just like Sanvicente needs to undergo a drug test.
The controversy involving Sanvicente was compared to previous incidents wherein the suspects where ordinary civilians.
Last January 2022 an 80-year-old suspect from Pangasinan was arrested by authorities due to his alleged stealing of mango fruits from his neighbors.
The said senior citizen was arrested by the police authorities by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the court.
