DITO Telecom Reports to NTC, 2,360 Towers Completed & 14,056 Km. Fiber Optic Cable

The country's third largest telecommunications company, DITO Telecommunity completed a total of 2,360 towers and 14,056 kilometers of fiber optic cable being laid out nationwide based on their report to the National Telecommunications Company. 


The NTC released an update regarding permits, towers and fiber optics during the press conference conducted by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque. 


Based on the reports produced by NTC, the Philippines had a total of 22,834 towers as of January 2021 with Globe Telecom leading the number of towers with 10,395, Smart Communications with 10,079 and newcomer DITO Telecommunity with 2,360 completed towers. 

According to NTC, DITO Telecommunity completed a total of 2,360 towers after the end of December 2021. 

For the month of July, DITO Telecom had only 718 towers but in the month of December the company was able to complete 2,360 towers which is way ahead of their 1,500 towers targeted during the early days of DITO Telecommunity. 


Meanwhile for the fiber optic cable, DITO Telecommunity had laid out a total of 14,056 on December 2020 from zero fiber optic cable from last year.  

For the entire country, there are already a total of 543,740 kilometer fiber optic cable or an increase of 144,551 kilometer added from the last years 399,189 kilometer of fiber optic cable. 

According to DITO Chief Administrative Officer, the third telco has player has built more than enough cell sites to achieve its commitment to cover 37% of the population with a minimum of 27 Megabits per second (Mbps).
