DITO Telecom Completes 859 Out of 1,300 Towers as of September 2020

The country's third telecommunications company, DITO Telecommunity already completed 859 out of the 1,300 towers needed to reach its target of 37 percent population coverage and speed of 27Mbps by January next year.



According to Atty. Adel Tamano, Chief Administrative Officer of DITO Telecom, as of September 13, 2020, the company had already spent close to P150 billion for the initial rollout of its infrastructure as well as other operating expenses.



DITO Telecom also announced that in order to ensure the continued rollout of cell sites, the company signed up six contractors  on top of LCS Holdings for North Luzon and NCR, ZEAL Power for Southern Luzon, ALT Global for the Visayas and CEEC Tower for Mindanao.

The third telco also noted that two fo the six newly appointed contractors include Aboitiz for Cebu an Davao, and the LEO Group for the NCR.

Atty. Tamano said that he is confident enough that DITO Telecommunity will meet its technical audit target as well as commercial operations goal by January and March 2021, respectively.



The third telco player has tapped Fortinet, NexusGuard, McAfee, Nessus, Veritas, Pentaho Data, IDAM Systems by BeyondTrust, Microsoft, Cisco ISE, Siemplify, ManageEngine, and SolarWinds, – all leaders in cyber security solutions – to ensure that DITO and the country are safe and secure.

DITO Telecommunity Corporation, a joint venture  between Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy and China Telecoms, is forking out P27 billion next year to build 3,500 fourth generation cell sites and 1,500 5G cell sites across the country next year.
