Inquirer Apologized for a Misleading Photo of Biñan Football Stadium

One of the country's leading news media outlet and considered by some netizens as biased on their reporting of the ASEAN Games, Inquirer, apologized for an obvious mistake committed.

Inquirer published an erratum on November 26, 2019 as a reply to the residents of Biñan's call for responsible journalism.

In an official statement released on social media, the Biñan City Information Office, they strongly refute the article published by Inquirer on November 25, about Biñan's football stadium and demand and ERRATUM against the FAKE NEWS.

The City government of Biñan claimed that they were doing their best to be a warm host of the 30th ASEAN Football Matches and they will not be mute against irresponsible journalism.

One day after the publication of misleading news article by Inquirer, the editor issued an erratum "We erroneously reported that the practice field that was in the photos was at the Biñan Football Stadium when in act it was the UP Diliman Football Gym, which was still under construction. We apologize for the mistake."

Despite the erratum issued by Inquirer, one of the Pro-Duterte blogger doubts the sincerity of the apology and the erratum because the case was really obvious according to Mark Lopez.

"But then, pano sila nagkamali eh ang layo naman ng UP sa Biñan? Ganun ba katanga ang mga editors and proofreaders nila? O nanadya?"
