Sen. Dela Rosa Turns Emotional After NUSP's Disrespectful Statement During the Senate Hearing

Newly-elected lawmaker and former PNP Chief Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa turned emotional after the alleged disrespectful statement of an NUSP leader recalling the senator's pronouncement for the possible release of Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez.

Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa slammed the student leader of the National Union of Students of the Philippines for bringing up an issue which is irrelevant to the discussion involving the possible returns of ROTC to all tertiary educational institution in the Philippines.

During the said Senate Hearing, NUSP President and student leader who is a prominent personality among student activist, Raoul Manuel criticized Sen. Dela Rosa for allegedly backing the release of Sanchez, which is way out of topic in the Senate Hearing that tackled the issue regarding the Mandatory ROTC bill.

Right after Manuel's remark, Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa then lost his cool and chided the student leader for mentioning an unrelated matter to the hearing that discusses ROTC.

"Ang layo naman ng sinasabi mo. Kasama ba  yan sa hearing yung comment na yun? Ang layo naman. That's affront," Dela Rosa stated.

The senator deemed Manuel's remarks as a "personal attack" against him. Sen. Pia Cayetano then reacted that Raoul Manuel could've used another venue to air his reaction against Sen. Dela Rosa. The former PNP Chief also noted ater the hearing that he was "insulted" over Manuel's remarks which he said was "unrelated" and irrelevant to the topic.
