Veteran member of the Philippine Army's elite Scout Ranger Regiment and prominent member of the Intelligence Community, Sir Abe Purugganan started an initiative on social media, the "Free General Palparan" Movement.
The initiative on social media by Abe Purugganan came out after the viral video interview conducted by Mocha Uson with jailed retired Major General Jovito Palparan. Netizens took to social media as the clamor to pardon and release Palparan appears to be pickung up traction among netizens.
General Palparan is considered as the most fierced warrior of the Armed Forces who managed to subdue numerous members of the New People's Army and even dubbed as the "Butcher" by the members of the communist movement.
The former soldier was a former star in the anti-communist drive called "Oplan Bantay Laya" under then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Major Gen. Palpara was then the commander of the of the Philippine Army's 7th Infantry Division in Central Luzon, was even praised by Arroyo in her 2006 State of the Nation Address in front of high-ranking government officials and other dignitaries.
During the interview with Mocha Uson, the distinguished retired General took the opportunity and aired his side of the story surrounding the circumstances of his incarceration. He vehemently denied he was behind the kidnapping and disappearance of two former UP students-turned NPA commanders.
Gen. Palparan also felt said that he could not contribute to Pres. Rody Duterte's quest of ending insurgency in the country, which he said has the best chance of succeeding now.
In the social media sphere, former Army Major Abe Purugganan appealed to Pres. Duterte not to allow the liberals and the communists to continue to shame and malign a hero who dedicated his life for the security of the nation.
