Veteran blogger and prominent pro-Duterte supporter on social media, MJ Quiambao Reyes lectured Raissa Robles, a veteran journalist and writer, for her interpretation of being a journalist.
According to MJ Reyes, the veteran journalist should not be called as a journalist but an activist, a critic, a blogger or a propagandist.
The statement of Reyes is part of her reply to Raissa Robles who released the statement that says "Hilarious when someone who has never practiced journalism a day in his life pontificates about 'legitimate journalist.' For me a legitimate journalist is someone who throws tomatoes at the powers-that-be, constantly."
MJ Reyes lectured Robles by saying "Your statement is a disgrace, You're mistaking journalism to criticism & activism. The former must be faithful to facts (5W, 1H) while the latter on one's principles & prejudices. Whoever taught you must neither teach nor practice journalism ever again."
Aside from burning down Raissa Robles on Twitter, MJ Reyes made a follow-up statement on her official FB Page by saying that if Robles really constantly throw tomatoes at the powers-that-be, then she should work as an activist or critic not a journalist.
Read the Complete Lecture of MJ Reyes:
Madam, if all you really want to do is to constantly 'throw tomatoes at the powers-that-be', then, for the life of me, just be an activist, a critic, a blogger, or a propagandist–just not journalist!
Speaking of being "constant", why did you not throw tomatoes at previous admin:
• When the total reported crimes increased by 380% from 2011 to 2014?
• When rape cases increased by 92% from 2010 to 2014 (70% of the rape victims were children!)?
• When the victims of riding in tandem increased by 65% from 2010 to 2013?
• When 44 SAF officers were left to die?
• When 19 senators received a total of P1.107 billion in additional lump-sum funds–6 months after Corona was convicted?
