Justice Leonen Lectures Sen. Lacson About Amity and Friendship


Supreme Court of the Philippines Justice Mario Victor "Marvic" F. Leonen lectured Senator Ping Lacson who once said to find the word "friendship" in the Philippine Constitution pertaining to territory.



The veteran Justice of the Supreme Court points out the word "amity" and elicits the answer that it means friendship.



The controversial statement of Justice Leonen was recorded according to Atty. Trixie Cruz Angeles during the oral arguments regarding the "writ of kalikasan" case filed by Atty. Chel Diokno and his team of lawyer against the Duterte administration.

During the said oral arguments on the writ of Kalikasan, Justice Leonen actually says amity means friendship.

The statement of Sen. Lacson came out after Pres. Duterte stated that he is preserving the friendshp and relations with China to explain his actions in the West Philippine Sea.

Sen. Ping Lacson tweeted the following statement questioning the statement of the President "Somebody please help me find the word "friends" below: Art XII. Sec 2 (para 2) - The State shall protect the nation's marine wealth its archipelagic waters, territorial sea, and exclusive economic zone, and reserve its use and enjoyment exclusively to Filipino citizens."
