Mark Lopez Questions CHR's Concerned on ABS-CBN Franchise But Silent on Hacienda Luisita Issue

Veteran radio host and micro-blogger Mark Lopez called out the attentions of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) for showing concerned on the issue regarding the renewal of ABS-CBN franchise but they were silent on the issue involving Hacienda Luisita.

Mark Lopez told his followers that in the year 2017, a kind hearted couple by the name of Ricky Pia Medenilla provided assistance to sacadas who were smuggled out of Mindanao and were enslaved in Hacienda Luisita.

The concerned citizen were able to rescue the sacadas who were allegedly forced into slave labor and were given a measly sum of P44 per week, or about P6.00 per day while working at Hacienda Luisita.

Lopez questioned the moves of the CHR regarding the issue involving the ABS-CBN Franchise but they were silent on the issues involving forced labors allegedly committed by the Aquino and Coquangco Family who owned and managed Hacienda Luisita.

CHR's concerend right now is the "freezing" of the franchise renewal bill, not on the labor conditions of long time contractual workers of ABS-CBN.

Read the Complete Statement of Mark Lopez:

In 2017, a kind hearted couple by the name of Ricky Pia Medenilla provided assistance to sacadas who were smuggled out of Mindanao and were enslaved in Hacienda Luisita.

These sacadas were forced into slave labor and were given a measly sum of P44 per Aweek, or about P6 PER DAY.

They escaped, and were found sleeping in the pavements in QC by Ricky and Pia. Thru their efforts, the couple raised funds and coordinated with then DSWD Asec @Lorraine Marie T. Badoy to help these sacadas get back home in Mindanao, to enable them to start anew.

Did we hear anything from the CHR? What has this agency done to uphold the rights of the enslaved sacadas?

And now we read about this?

And the concern of CHR is the ‘freezing’ of the franchise renewal bill, not on the labor conditions of long time contractual workers of ABS CBN?

Seriously?

Perhaps it’s time Congress pass a bill renaming the CHR to Commission of Human Wrong.

Mali eh.
