Mark Lopez: Duterte Admin Recognize the Importance of Continuity in Big Ticket Projects Unlike Aquino
DDS Blogger and radio host Mark Lopez stated on his latest post what he discovered in the program of the President, the Duterte administration recognized the importance of continuity in big ticket projects unlike the Aquino administration that discontinued some of the most important projects initiated by the Arroyo administration.
According to Mark Lopez, Pres. Rody Duterte was the guest of honor in the inauguration of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and one of the most important point made mention in the inaugural ceremonies is the fact that the Duterte admin credits its predecessor Aquino administration for initiating this project under its Private-Public Partnership or PPP infrastructure program.
The veteran blogger, Lopez also stressed the program of Pres. Duterte which showed the importance of continuity unlike the policy of the Aquino admin wherein they failed to continue the projects of his predecessor, the Arroyo administration.
During the administration of Pres. Aquino, one of the most controversial project of GMA which Aquino discontinued is the Laguna Lake Dredging project which was arbitrarily cancelled, the Philippines got sued by Belgium and the country was ordered to pay P800 million and has to spend P418 million in litigation fees.
Here's the Complete Statement of Mark Lopez:

President Duterte was the guest of honor in the inauguration of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which is being hailed as “a resort airport.”
One important point made mention in the inaugural ceremonies is the fact that the Duterte administration credits its predecessor Aquino administration for initiating this project under its Private-Public Partnership or PPP infra program.
What was stressed is that the Duterte admin recognizes the importance of CONTINUITY, especially for big ticket items that are deemed vital to the country’s infrastructure network.
According to DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade,
"Still, the completion of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2 and other Aquino-era PPP projects underscores another aspect of the Duterte administration’s infrastructure policy, which is to essentially continue with the projects already began by the previous regime."
In other words, this government does not play politics when it comes to the economy or welfare of the nation, nor it capriciously cancel billion-peso projects on a whim.
Remember the Laguna Lake dredging project which was arbitrarily cancelled by BS Aquino III just because it was a Gloria Arroyo initiated program?
Well, the Philippines got sued by Belgium in an international settlement court, and was ordered to pay P800 MILLION and has to spend P418 MILLION in litigation fees.
Contrast this to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport project which was bidded out in 2013.
“It was our job to make sure that construction will be completed by June 2018 as stated in the contract, and that’s what we did, and that’s why we are here. No delays, no corruption,” said Tugade.

PS - the Mactan-Cebu International Airport adopted the amazing design conceptualized by the team of renowned Filipino industrial designers Kenneth Cobonpue, Royal Pineda and Budjie Layug.
This is the same trio who proposed to re-design the Ninoy Aquino International Airport here in Manila, but whose proposal was abruptly scrapped by Mar Roxas when he took over the DOTr post in 2011.
